Schroedinger vs. Navier–Stokes
Quantum mechanics has been argued to be a coarse-graining of some underlying deterministic theory. Here we support this view by establishing a map between certain solutions of the Schroedinger equation, and the corresponding solutions of the irrotational Navier–Stokes equation for viscous fluid flow. As a physical model for the fluid itself we propose the quantum probability fluid. It turns out...
متن کاملTitle: Schroedinger Maps
Schroedinger maps are a geometric nonlinear version of the classical linear Schroedinger equation, where instead of complex valued functions one considers Kahler valued maps. In this talk I will describe the equations, several approaches used in their study, as well as some recent results. Some open problems will be discussed at the end.
متن کاملModified augmented Lagrangian preconditioners for the incompressible NavierStokes equations
We study different variants of the augmented Lagrangian (AL)-based block-triangular preconditioner introduced by the first two authors in [SIAM J. Sci. Comput. 2006; 28: 2095–2113]. The preconditioners are used to accelerate the convergence of the Generalized Minimal Residual method (GMRES) applied to various finite element and Marker-and-Cell discretizations of the Oseen problem in two and thr...
متن کاملLattice Boltzmann Model for the Incompressible NavierStokes Equation
In the last decade or so, the lattice Boltzmann (LB) method has emerged as a new and effective numerical technique of computational fluid dynamics (CFD).(1-5) Modeling of the incompressible Navier-Stokes equation is among many of its wide applications. Indeed, the lattice Boltzmann equation (LBE) was first proposed to simulate the incompressible NavierStokes equations.(1) The incompressible Nav...
متن کاملControl for Schroedinger operators on tori
A well known result of Jaffard states that an arbitrary region on a torus controls , in the L 2 sense, solutions of the free stationary and dynamical Schrödinger equations. In this note we show that the same result is valid in the presence of a potential, that is for Schrödinger operators, −∆ + V , V ∈ C ∞ .
